Samuel Lighthizer, 60, of 1302 Moxahala avenue, a retired laborer, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday (June 10) in Bethesda Hospital where he had been a patient the past week. He had been in failing health several years. Mr. Lighthizer was born in Morgan County Dec. 24, 1908, a son of Judson and Alma Swingle Lighthizer. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Margie Crippen; two sons, Jerry Lighthizer of 335 Clark street and Larry of the home; a daughter Mrs. Joan Eppley of Shawnee, four step-sons, Carl Tucker of 908 Hall avenue, Gayland of Ontario, Calif., Leon of Fontana, Calif., and James of 536 Durban drive; a brother Judson L. Lighthizer of 1040 South Luck avenue; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel McGrath of 728 Price street, Mrs. Lulu Hague of Hall avenue and Mrs. Bernice Hiett of 969 Magnolia street; 10 grandchildren and 16 step-grandchildren. Mr. Lighthizer was a veteran of World War II. The body is at DeLong and Baker Funeral Home where friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
