George Longley Weidman was killed while constructing Pretty Boy Dam in Baltimore County, MD. He was pushing dirt and snow with a bull dozer when it slid into one of the pilings for the dam. He fell through the steel, breaking every bone in his body. He survived two days.

CROOKSVILLE - Verlin E. Hampton, 52, of Crooksville, a former employe of Ceramic Supply Company, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday at his home. He had been in ill health four years. Born April 7, 1920, at Rose Farm near Crooksville, he was a son of Wade and Anna Fry Hampton. Surviving are his widow, Lydia Hampton; a brother, Cyril Hampton of Rose Farm; and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers and a sister are deceased. Friends may call at Crooksville Chapel of Cannon and Cannon Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.

Charged with a Serious Crime: The Rogers Co-operative Press has the following to say about the arrest of Chas. Cox of Garfield, Ark., who is well known to many Barry County citizens: In the arrest of Charles Cox of Garfield in connection with the death of his wife, Ada Stokes Cox, a surprise has been sprung. On Oct 23, the body of Mrs. Cox was exhumed and the viscera sent to a chemist for analysis. A few days later Prosecuting Attorney Fuller of Eureka Springs who was present at the coroner's inquest which rendered a verdict that the woman's death was due to unknown causes stated in an interview at Fayetteville that he was convinced the woman was a suicide. This it was thought ended the investigation. Facts concerned in Cox's arrest have not been made public. He will be given a preliminary hearing here. Several families of the Cox's reside close to Elkhorn Tavern, on the Battlefield of Pea Ridge, where their ancestor, Jesse Cox, located over 75 years ago. They number among Benton County's most prominent and respected families and Cox's many friends are confident of his innocence.
