John Bryce Hickey, Jr., 72 Sapulpa, died today at Bartlett Memorial
Medical Center. Services will be Monday at Smith Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. Don Price officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills
Memorial Gardens.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was retired from Meadow
Gold. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and
Sapulpa Historical Society. Survivors include his wife, Nell, of
the home; a daughter, Barbara Pinkston, Ramona; a sister, Doris Henry
Beck, Sapulpa; two brothers, Max Hickey, Spring, Texas, and Bill
Hickey, Eagle Pass, Texas; and two granddaughters.

John Bryce Hickey, Jr., 74 Sapulpa, died Friday at Bartlett Memorial
Medical Center. Services will Monday at Smith Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. Don Price officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills
Memorial Gardens. He was born Feb. 7, 1921 in Pretty Water to Bryce
and Ada Hickey, and had been a resident of the Sapulpa area all of
his life. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was retired from
Meadow Gold. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and
a life-time member of the Sapulpa Historical Society. Hickey also
was an avid fisherman and liked playing cards. In high school he
played shortstop on the baseball team. He was a bowler and a member
of the Latestarters League at Sahma Lanes. Survivors include his
wife, Nell, of the home; a daughter, Barbara Pinkston, Ramona; a
sister, Doris Henry Beck, Sapulpa; two brothers, Max Hickey, Spring,
Texas, and Bill Hickey, Eagle Pass, Texas, and two granddaughters.

Services for John Bryce Hickey, Jr., were held this morning in the
Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Price officiating. Burial
was in Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Wayne
Lynch, Kay Ward, Frank James, Frank Beck, David Goodman and Glen
Goodman. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alton Glen "Papa" Baker, 78, passed away Friday, March 3, 2006, at a
local hospital. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at
Cedar Gap Cemetery with Reverend Richard Adkisson officiating,
directed by Abilene Funeral Home. "Papa" Baker was born October 3,
1927, in Haskell, Texas to Howard and Della Baker. He was a U. S.
Army Veteran. He and Lula were married December 4, 1981, in Abilene.
Mr. Baker was a minister at Hohertz Church of Christ for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Baker of Abilene; a son, Glenn Baker
of Abilene; six daughters, Paula Goynes, Glenda Placker (Preston),
Kathy Truman and Keli Perkins, Teddie Watson (Lynn Taylor) all of
Abilene and Roberta Alvarez (Aubin) of Lubbock; a caregiver, Debbie
Hite; three sisters, Margie Morley and Shirley Wheeles, both of
Abilene and Charlene Cavaness of Glenn Heights, Texas; four
sisters-in-law, Naomi Ruth of Arkansas, Anna Belle of Palo Pinto,
Daphene Nell of Mississippi and Betti Caster of Arkansas; 12
grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild;
and lots of friends. "Papa" was preceded in death by his parents;
first wife, Pauline Baker; a daughter, Kathy Baker; two
grandchildren, Sheila and Bubba. The family wishes to thank the
Abilene Hendrick Oncology Group, the Oncology Unit, 7th floor of the
Parker Wing and Holly, Courtney and Joe of Hendrick Day Surgery
Treatment Center and Dr. Eakin. A visitation will be from 4:00 to
6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Online register book may be
