New Lexington - Marion Elwood Savage, 75, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday following a stroke at his home, 211 Water street. He was a retired coal miner. He was born May 17, 1888, a son of Oscar and Rebecca Nichols Savage and spent his entire live in the New Lexington Vicinity. He was a member of the Church of Christ here. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Speele (Steele) of Columbus, Mrs. Vivian Bush of Lancaster, Miss Chestoria Savage, Mrs. Fern Rose and Mrs. Hazel Storts, all of New Lexington; three sons, Paul Savage of Columbus, Gerald Savage of Lancaster and Lester Savage of New Lexington; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chule-Belford Funeral Home here with Rev. James Honaker officiation. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

MAN ENDS LIFE WITH RIFLE BULLET
Harold Hardesty, 52, died in Coshocton Memorial hospital at 3:50 p.m. Saturday of a self-inflicted bullet wound. Mr Hardesty shot himself with a .22-caliber rifle about 3 p.m. yesterday, in the bedroom of his home at 531 Locust st. He was alone in the house at the time, and was found, fatally wounded, by his wife a short time later. He was employed as a clerk at Isaly's dairy store until 1948, and had been in ill health for the last three years. He was born in Conesville Feb. 23, 1900, the son of (William) Howard and Adeline Parrish Hardesty. In 1920 he married Dora Savage, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs Mattioni, Canal Lewisville; Mrs Donald Latham, Coshocton, and Mrs. George Clough, of the home; two sons, Richard and Harold Jr., both of Coshocton, and three grandchildren. The parents and one sister are deceased. Private funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Dawson funeral home, in charge of Rev E.B. Johnson. Burial will be in South Lawn cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
