Hood Longley, 86, of Apison, Tennessee, died on Saturday, July 5,
2008 at his home. He was born of November 30, 1921, in Apison, and
was a graduate of Ooltewah High School. He and his wife, Lois, were
married 66 years. Hood was a veteran of World War II serving in the
628th Tank Destroyer Division in the European Theater. He was retired
from Mueller Company with 40 years of service. He was a member of
Apison Baptist Church for 76 years, served as a Deacon for 54 years,
and was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class and Choir. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Will and Ada Longley, brothers,
Millard and Felker Longley. Survivors are his wife, Lois MacDonald
Longley, daughter, Virginia (Lavon) Simpson, Ooltewah, two grandsons,
Brian (Kelly) Simpson, Ringgold, Ga.; Tim (Jessica) Simpson, Burbank,
Ca.; great-granddaughter, Briley Simpson, Ringgold; sister-in-law,
Grace McNabb, several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at
11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Leroy
Spinks, Rev. Richard Blalock and Rev. Chris Campbell officiating.
Interment will be in National Cemetery with Military Honors. The
family wishes to express their appreciation to Hospice of
Chattanooga, Dr. Jitendra Gandhi and staff, Dr. Paul Lawrence and
staff, the caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care and also wishes
to thank Tom Gwaltney, Dick McNely, Morris Walls, Wayne Henry and
Rev. Burl McMillan for all their acts of kindness during his
illness. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of
Chattanooga, P.O. Box 19269, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416, or to Apison
Baptist Church Building Fund, 11127 Old E. Brainerd Rd., Apison,
Tn. 37302. Condolences may be sent at www.heritagefh.com.

Mrs. Ella Savage, 80, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday at her home on
Coshocton Route 2. Death resulted from a sudeen heart attack. She
was born July 29, 1873, at Chester Hill, Morgan county, a daguther
of Mr. and Mrs. Mordecai Peebles and was married April 24, 1893, to
John Savage, who died in 1940. She attended the Wesleyan Methodist
church in Coshocton. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Bert Snell,
Guernsey Route 2; three sons, William Savage, Coshocton Route 3,
Charles Savage, Coshocton Roue 2, and Rev. Eugene Savage, Marengo,
O.; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Wells, West Lafayette, Mrs. Lillian Wean,
Florida, Mrs. Mary McGlade, Zanesville, and Mrs. Emmett Love,
Coshocton; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One
son, one sister and two brothers are deceased. Services will be held
at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wesleyan Methodist church in charge of
Rev. Robert W. McIntyre. Burial will be in South Lawn cemetery.
Friends will be received at the home of the son, Charles Savage,
Coshocton Route 2, after Sunday noon.
