The death of William Edward Sheppard, 53, Coshocton Route 1, whose body was found by his roommate in their trailer Wednesday morning, was ruled an apparent suicide by Dr. W. W. Schwindt, West Lafayette, acting county coroner. Sheppard reportedly shot himself in the head with a 12-gauge shotgun. His body was found by Levallin Buster Carnes, who returned to the trailer from work at 7 a.m. He found the shotgun in the man's hand. Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene at 1:56 p.m. They reported no evidence of foul play. William E. Sheppard was born Dec. 10, 1919 in Coshocton, a son of the late Earl A. and Helen Burrell Sheppard. A six-year U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he had been employed as a pressman at the Novelty Advertising Co. since 1955. One Jun 23, 1964, he was married to Mae Elliott, who survives. Also surviving are one step-son, Roger Sowers, Coshocton Route 1; two step-daughters, Mrs. Susan Carns, 643 Locust St., and Mrs. June Allen, West Lafayette; one brother, Robert E. Sheppard, 170 N. 17th St.; four sisters, Mrs. Warren (Jane) Gauthier, Cambridge, Mass., Frs. Frank (Wilda) Campola, Timberlake, Ohio, Mrs. V. A. (Mary Ellen) Olden, Toppenish, Wash., and Mrs. Edward (Elizabeth) Gehrke, Skyline Heights; 12 step-grandchildren. Private services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Given Funeral Home with the Rev. Forrest Weller, Grace United Methodis Church, officiating. Burial will be in South Lawn Cemetery. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.

Cole Young Longley died Jan. 19, 1991 at 113 Hudson Drive at the age of 83. Born Nov. 15, 1907 in Ozona, he ranched all of his life in the Pumpville and Marfa area. He was a member of the Texas Sheep and Goat Association. Survivors include his brothers: Glenn L. Longley of San Marcos and Cam Longley Jr. of Brigham City, Utah.; sister; Josephine Curry of Del Rio; eight nieces and nephews. Visitation is today from 11 a.m. in the chapel of Humphreys-Doran Funeral Homee. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10;30 a.m. at Humphreys-Doran Funeral Home, with Pastor Carrell Still officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemeteray. Pallbearers will be Don Campbell, Curry Campbell, Cam Campbell, Johnny Foster, Alton Everett and Red Smith.
