J. H. Snodgrass, 83, resident of Taylor County since 1877 and a resident of Cedar Gap most of that time, died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the family residence, one mile east of McBee Store, after a two-year illness. The retired farmer had entered a Baird hospital last Sunday and was returned home Wednesday. Funeral arrangements were pending Saturday night and will be announced from Elliott's Funeral Home. Mr. Snodgrass was born May 27 1869, in Erath County. He married the former Jane Dodson at Buffalo Gap in 1889. She died in 1947. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Baker of Route 1, Tuscola, three sons, Clarence and John Snodgrass, both of Route 1, Tuscola, and George Snodgrass of 410 Amarillo St., Abilene; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Crooksville Woman Dies at Age of 71
Mrs. Rolland Lear, 71, of Crooksville, died at 8:15 o'clock Thursday night in Good Samaritan hospital where she had been admitted Wednesday. Mrs. Lear had been ill for several years and became critical Monday. She was the former Grace I. Eveland, daughter of John and Alice Stutes Eveland. She was born Dec. 24, 1886, in Morgan county. Mrs. Lear was a member of the EUB church at Crooksville and a former employe of the A.E.Hull pottery company. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Hubert hicks of Crooksville, a sister, Mrs. Irene Rosser of Crooksville, one brother, Delmar Evelend of Boston and on grandson, Gary Hicks, also of Crooksville. The body was taken to the Crooksville chapel of Cannon and Cannon funeral home where friends may call and where services will be held at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Louis C. Mathews will officiate. Burial will be in Crooksvile cemetery.

Mrs. Helen Ethel Savage, 88, of 1134 North Ave., Tallmadge, formerly of Zanesville, died Thursday, April 7, 1994, at Akron City Hospital. Born Dec. 26, 1905 in Newton Township (near White Cottage, Ohio), she was the daughter of the late William W. and Ethel Dilts Woodward. She is survived by daughter, Mrs. Dale (Cherie) Lewis of Cuyahoga Falls; granddaughters, Mrs. David (Debra) Erskine of Canton, Mrs. Don (Diane) Jarvis of Canton; great-grandson, Travis Barrett Stewart; and great-great-granddaughter, Chelsea Ann Erskine. Funeral service Saturday, 1 p.m., at the Bryan Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave., Zanesville, Dr. Herbert R. Hick officiating, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Memorial Park in Zanesville.
