ZANESVILLE -- Patti L. Blackburn, 83, formerly of Canton, was the dear mother of R. Lane (Linda) Blackburn of Cleveland and B. Lynn Blackburn of Culver City, Calif. and cousin of Barbara Painter of Columbus, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 7, at the Judson Manor in Cleveland. She was born in Zanesville, Jan. 31, 1920, and was a 1937 graduate of Zanesville High School. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Royce Blackburn, who died Aug. 13, 1971 and also a brother, Richard Lane and her sister, Evelyn Thompson. Patti, was devoted to her family, friends, church and community. She was an active member and volunteer for 50 years at the Church of the Savior United Methodist. She was a certified braillist for the Canton District Schools, Department of Visually Impaired for 11 years, as well as a volunteer teacher of braille for the Philomatheon Society. Patti was a member Weavers and Spinners Guild and taught weaving at Stark Technical College. She enjoyed international travels and was dedicated to a lifelong pursuit of learning. Her many friends may join her family for a funeral service to be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Sunset Hills Burial Park with Dr. William Harvey officiating. There will be no calling hours and the Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family request contributions may be made to Church of the Savior United Methodist, 120 Cleveland Ave. S., Canton, OH 44702.
