Ms. Vallie Eulala Sears, 104, of Clovis, a retired cashier, died
Sunday, May 25, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born on June 7, 1898, in Waco, Texas, to Benjamin and Ella
Reynolds Hudgins. She moved to Clovis from Dallas, in 1923. She
worked as a cashier at the newsstand of the Santa Fe Railroad for 25
years. She was a Jehovahs Witness. She was preceded in death by her
parents; a son, Ivan L. Sears; and a granddaughter, Beverly Gail
Nance. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Lee of Clovis; a
grandson, Bob Lee (and wife, Janie) of Galveston, Texas; two
great-grandsons, Robert Lee IV and William Lee; and three
great-great-grandchildren, Allison, Brittney and Trent. Burial
will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Arrangements are
by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Chester Beavers officiated
the services. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements
are by Memorial Park Funeral Home of Amarillo.

WILMINGTON - Henry Edgar Longley, Jr. died on Friday, November
21, 2008, at his residence. The service will be held at 11 a.m.
on Monday, November 24, at Saint James Episcopal Church, followed
by interment at Oakdale Cemetery. He was born in Wilmington, N.C.,
January 19, 1933. He was the son of Henry Edgar Longley and DeLean
Ayers Longley. Mr. Longley attended New Hanover High School and
graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy. He earned a mechanical
engineering degree from North Carolina State University. After two
years in the United States Air Force at Patrick Air Force Base in
Florida, he then returned home to take over the family business,
Longley Supply Company. Serving as President for 46 years, Mr.
Longley was dedicated to growing the business, which celebrated its
100th anniversary in July 2006. Mr. Longley was on the first Board of
Directors and later served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of
New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Recognized as a lifetime member,
he was on the Board of the YMCA. He was a Founding Father and Chairman
of the Board of Directors of Cape Fear Academy. Mr. Longley served on
the Board of Saint Mary's School in Raleigh, N.C., and was on the
Board of Visitors of the Lineberger Foundation at the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was President of the North Carolina
State University Wolfpack Club and President of Southern Wholesalers
Association. Mr. Longley was a member of the Cape Fear Men's Club,
the Cape Fear Country Club, the Surf Club, the Carolina Yacht Club,
L'Arioso German Club, a charter member of Saint Andrews Covenant
Presbyterian Church, and a current member of Saint James Episcopal
Church. Along with being active in his community, Mr. Longley
enjoyed the outdoors, playing golf, hunting, fishing, and cheering for
his Wolfpack team. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Penton
Longley, and three daughters, Elizabeth Longley Donald of Wilmington,
Margaret Longley White and husband, Lee, of Greensboro, and Emily
Penton Longley of Wilmington. He had four grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann
Donald and Douglas Alan Donald III of Wilmington and Frances Ellison
White and Austin Lee White of Greensboro. He is also survived by two
sisters, DeLean Longley Gardner of Wilmington, and Fannie Longley
Thomason of Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at his
residence, 2525 Mimosa Place. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may

Saturday, April 25, 1992 at 1:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home
Chapel, Floyd with interment in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at
Gardner Funeral Home.

Mrs Mary L Sidey
Cridersville - Services for Mrs. Mary Lucille Sidey, 79, will be at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday in the Bayliff Funeral Home here, the Rev. Lee Burtchin officiating.
Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery. Mrs. Sidey, widow of Lafayette Sidey and
former Westminster resident, died Thursday in Oblong, Ill. Since the death of
her husband in 1937 Mrs. Sidey had lived with her sons, Lavon, in Oblong, and
Charles, Route 3, Wapakoneta. She was a member of the Westminster Methodist
Church and the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving besides the sons are two other
sons, Robert, Canton, and Joseph, Martinville, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Mrs.
Edna Rarida, Paril, Ill., and Mrs. Lucille Farris, in Texas; 11 grandchildren;
three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Russell and Mrs. Amelia Clark, both of 24-1/2 Public
Square, Lima; Mrs. Mildred Vermillion, and a brother, Patrick Anderson, in
Martinville, Ill. The body will arrive in Wapakoneta at 3 a.m. and be removed
to the funeral home where friends may call.

FORMER ZANESVILLE RESIDENT DIES
Mrs. Bertha E. Bailey, 81, widow of the late Christian Bailey
who died eight years ago, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Fouts, of Rt. 4
McConnelsville. Mrs. Bailey was a native of the Gaysport vicinity,
a daughter of the late Charles and Thurza Dozer Twyman and spent
most of her life in the Sharps Ridge community near McConnelsville
except for 10 years she resided on Pine street, Zanesville. She
was a member of the St. Lukes American Lutheran church in Zanesville.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Fouts, Charles Bailey of 808
Pershing road and Mrs. Dale Hartley of McKees Rocks, Pa.; a brother,
Sherman Twyman of 1222 Moxahala avenue; seven grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren. The body will be taken Monday noon from the
Cannon and Cannon funeral home, Roseville to the Fouts residence, to
remain until services are held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon in the
Jerusalem Lutheran church. Rev. Karl Mohrhoff, paster of St. Lukes
church will be in charge and burial will be in the church cemetery.
