AUTO CRASH FATAL TO MAHOMET FAMILY
Four Killed; One Saved As Fire Follows Collision
Fisher, Ill., Apr 14 - (A.P.) Four persons are dead and one seriously
injured as a result of an automobile accident on the Champaign
highway two miles east Sunday. The dead are: Mr. and Mrs. Ora
Knox of Mahomet, Ill., their daughter, Kathryn, eight, and their
grandson, Harold Davis. Injured is another grandson, Russell
Davis. The Knox car, containing the five victims was traveling
east on the narrow road between Fisher and Champaign when struck
by a machine driven in the opposite direction by Edwin Sale,
seventeen year old Fisher high school student. Sale, a cousin
of "Chic" Sale, humorist, said the Knox car was hidden him by a
cloud of dust. He was slightly injured. Following the crash the
Knox car overturned and caught fire. Mrs. Knox being burned to
death before she could be pulled from the wreckage by the father
of the Davis boys. The father, did however drag his two sons from
beneath the flaming auto in time to save the life of Russell who
suffered fractures of the sholder and hip. Harold died before
reaching the hospital while Kathryn died early SUnday night in a
Champaign hospital. Mr. Knox was almost instantly killed.
