Francis Navarro born October 5, 1927 in Monterry, Mexico, passed away yesterday at 12:37 p.m., July 21, 2003 at her home in San Antonio, Texas. Wife of retired San Antonio Deputy Sheriff Ramon Navarro. Francis & Ramon Navarro grew up in the mountains of Monterry, Mexico where they own a very large hacienda and another home along the Gulf of Mexico as well as several other homes throughout San Antonio. Among their memories are of those of Poncho Villa riding thru their village often. Francis was always going to Mexico overseeing the homes in Mexico & always remodeling them. She always took care of all her family, making sure they have a roof over their heads & plenty to eat. She was well known for making the best tamales which the whole family looked forward to eating during every occasion. Two months ago, they found cancer & gave Francis 6 months to a year to live. After undergoing chemo they found tumors in her stomach, liver & her brain which they gave her steroids. They took her off the steroids about a month ago. They released her from the hospital last Friday as there was nothing more they could do for her. Francis & Ramon are of Catholic faith & with priest & family around her, died peacefully. Francis will be dearly missed. A very giving and loving woman. She was well loved by all who knew her. Viewing is July 23, 2003 at Castillo Funeral Home in San Antonio. And burial will be July 24, 2003 at Mission Cemetery in San Antonio.

DANVILLE, Va. - Percy A. Sigmon, 70, of 109 S. Hunter St., died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Danville Regional Medical Center. He was in the hospital for the past two weeks. Born March 12, 1933, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Percy Lee Sigmon and Bernice Cook Sigmon. He lived all of his life in Danville. He worked as a long distance truck driver for Roy Stone Trucking and later worked as a pipe fitter with Dan River Inc. where he retired on disability. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was of the Holiness faith and was a former member of the Moose Club. He was married to June Light Sigmon. In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by four daughters, Audrey Chilton and Kimberly Moore, both of Danville, Tammy Hancock of Pelham, N.C., and Patricia Howell of Danville; one son, Gary Howell of Danville; two sisters, Cornelia Bridwell of Baltimore, Md., and Elizabeth Boothe of Danville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one daughter, Annette Sigmon and five brothers. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of the Living God, Edmond St., with the Rev. Hassell Priddy officiating. Interment will be in the Cook-Sigmon Family Cemetery, S. Hunter St. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Swicegood Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence. Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
