St. Cloud Times, St. Cloud, Minnesota, 4 Apr 1940, p. 9:
Joseph F. Davis, former resident of St. Cloud, died at his home in Fennimore, Wis., April 2, Mr. Davis was 70 years old March 18. He was born in Rockville and spent his boyhood there later moving to St. Cloud where he was associated with Agate Granite company. He worked also for the Gopher, Pyramid and Hilder granite company. Twelve years ago Mr. Davis moved to Wisconsin where he operated a granite shop. He married Catherine Ahles who preceded him in death 15 years. Surviving children are Mrs. Edith Schaedler, Chicago; Mrs. Edna Sherben, Great Falls, Montana; Arthur Davis, Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Alice Kuether, Minneapolis; Mrs. Bernice Stauffacher, Wilfred Davis and Mary Elaine Davis, Fennimore; Erwin Davis and Mrs. Ray Imbolte, St. Cloud. There are 10 surviving grandchildren. The body is being shipped here and will be at Daniels funeral chapel Friday. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

HE RAISED A ROW
William Langley, son of Scott Langley, is alleged to have created considerable excitement in the north part of town Saturday night as the result of too much bad liquor. It is alleged that he tried to pick a fight with a young man by the name of Frank Forsythe and followed him on to his home. It is claimed that Langley seized a broom stick and proceeded to break out the window light. He was cut under the left eye with pieces of broken glass. Policemen Stevens and Collins placed him under arrest and brought him to jail.

Grace M. Pierce, 83, passed away April 28, 1986 at Little Forest Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Preceded in death by son, George A. Pierce; she is survived by grandson, John S.; and granddaughter, Lee A. Pierce; several nieces and a nephew. Her body was donated to N.E.O. College of Medicine, at her request. Services will be private at the request of the family and deceased. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Akron Paramedic Squad. (Hecker, 699-2600.)

AKERS, Herman Lee, 81, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 16, 1996. He was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Akers began a long railroad career with the Virginian Railway, and went on to work with the Norfolk & Western Railway, retiring in 1976, with 40 years of service. He spent most of his railroad career as a locomotive engineer. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Dixon Akers; a son and daughter-in-law, David Lee and Shelly Akers, Parker, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane A. and Robert Tibbs, War, W.Va.; five grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Calvin and Helen Akers, Roanoke, Harry T. and Marian Akers, Monroeville, Pa.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mae and Bob Antel, Salem, Nancy Milam, Roanoke; a number of nieces and nephews including a special niece, Eloise Turnbull Garland of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with Dr. Daniel E. Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, where the family will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
