FINE AND APOLOGY IMPOSED TUESDAY IN LIQUOR CASE
Ernest Wymer Must Ask Pardon of Officers
Fine of $100 and costs - and an apology, was assessed Ernest Wymer,
West Main street, Tuesday morning by Judge E. B. Graham in probate
court. Wymer pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing intoxicating
liquor and was ordered to apologize to State Officer McDougal and
Wine and Deputy Sheriffs Ardrey and Curtis because of threats he had
made. Wymer, Officer McDouglas said, told his friends that he had a
"pull" with the authorities and that his case would never come to
trial. Also, Wymer is said to have explained to his friends how he
"beat up" the officers at the time of his arrest and wnt into detail
to describe the blows that were struck. McDougal stated that he saw
no blows struck at any time during the arrest of Wymer and that the
latter did not resist the officers. It was claimed however, that the
offender made an attempt to dispose of a pitcher of whiskey by pouring
it into a sink soon after the officers had arrived to search his
premises. In passing sentence, Judge Graham told Wymer that he owed
the officers an apology because of his talk concerning them, which
later was found to be untrue.
1930 was appointed as a prohibition inspector for Muskingum County
