STONE, Ernest Lee Jr., 80, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday,
December 5, 2000 in a Salem hospital. During World War II, he
served in the U. S. Army Air Corps in both the African and European
Theaters. He was employed by Shepherd Auto Supply and later retired
from Roanoke Concrete Products. Mr. Stone held membership in the
American Legion, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Ernest Lee Stone, Sr. and Mary Bennett Stone,
and a brother, James Lewis Stone. Surviving are his wife, Ola
Deacon Stone of Roanoke; a daughter, Lana S. McCulloch and her
husband, Jim McCulloch of Vinton; a granddaughter, Michaela T. Myers
and her husband, Travis W. Myers; a great-granddaughter, Logan R.
Myers, all of Roanoke; two sisters, Betty S. Minyard and her husband,
Thomas Minyard of Salem, Dorothy S. Linkous and her husband, Browder
Mosby Linkous of Roanoke; sisters-in-law, Deta Hylton of Wirtz and
Helen Benois of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews. Funeral
services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2000
from Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev. Larry Sprouse will officiate.
Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will
receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's
North Chapel.

Joseph W. Watts, 53, of Lancaster, owner of the Watts Barber Shop
there, died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday in Lancaster-Fairfield Hospital
following an apparent heart attack. Mr. Watts was a member of all
Lancaster Masonic Bodies, the Barbers Union, and was a World War II
veteran. He also was a member of the First United Methodist Church
in Lancaster, Born Sept. 5, 1919, in Crooksville, he was the son of
Mrs. Stella Watts of Crooksville and the late Harry Watts. Surviving
are his widow, Eileen; three sons, Kevin of Columbus and Charles and
Jeffrey, both of Lancaster; two sisters, Mrs. Evangeline Worthington
of Crooksville and Mrs. Katherine Warren of Michigan City, Ind.; four
brothers, Philip of Reynoldsburg, Addison of Zanesville, Emmett and
Benny, both of Crooksville and several nieces and nephews. Friends
may call after 7 this evening in the Halteman-Fett Funeral Home in
Lancaster. Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral
home with Rev. George W. Herd officiating. Burial will be in
Crooksville Cemetery.

Funeral services for Samuel E Twyman, 75, of 950 Moxahala avenue,
were held Saturday afternoon at the Dean-Swope funeral home with
Rev. A. T. Acord officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn. Mr. Twyman
died Thursday. A native of Blue Rock he had lived in this city
for the past 40 years and was formerly employed as a stationary
engineer at Bethesda Hospital. He retired two years ago. He
was the son of Charles and Theresa Twyman. Surviving are his
widow, Dora; a son, Chester of near South Zanesville; a brother,
Sherman of 1222 Moxahala avenue; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Bailey
of 570 Pine street; a grandson, Donald Twyman of the navy and
several nieces and nephews.
