Lonnie Knowles
Lonnie Knowles, 65, of Rt. 3, Pleasant Valley Twp., died yesterday in William Newton Hospital. (Actually he died at home while working in the garden) He was born Sept. 18, 1909, in Cowley County to Arthur and Mena (Mana) Knowles. He was a 1927 Winfield High School Graduate and was formerly a farmer. He retired in 1971 (sic 1970) from Smith-Moon Steel Co. He married Viola Dwyer in 1931, and he was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife; one son, Donald Knowles of Derby; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Longley of McLoud, Okla., Mrs. Paul Kennedy of Atlanta; three brothers Lester Knowles of Napa, Calif., Arthur Knowles of Ryan, Okla., Wilbur Knowles of Olathe, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Opal Kingsbury of Belle Plaine and Mrs. Martha Guymon of Texas. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Morris Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services for Lonnie I. Knowles were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Morris Memorial Chapel by Dennis Hoff. A quartet composed of Patty King, Berwin King, Elizabeth Sears and Kathy Michaels provided vocal music, and Mrs. Phil Wooddell played the organ. Pallbearers were Berwin King, Shirley Scrivner, Orvan McCoy, Merle Tribbey, Joe Sears, and Cecil Hendrickson. Interment was in Highland Cemetery.
