Services for Elmer Joe Hellard and Mary Hellard are pending with Smith Funeral Home. A Blue Bell area husband and wife were allegedly victims of a homicide-suicide Wednesday morning at their home. Mary Hellard, 66, and Elmer Joe Hellard, 67, were found by their son shot to death in their Route 1 resident about 8 am Wednesday. Reports indicate Hellard had been unhappy with his recovery from a stroke suffered earlier this year. Sheriff's officials said the Hellards were well known for prospering in the oil business. They owned mineral interest in several oil and gas wells near Kellyville, according to reports.

Mrs. Mary M. Hellard, 66, of Route 1 died Wednesday at home. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Blue Bell Freewill Baptist Church with Tony Kafka officiating. Burial will be in South Heights Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. She was born Jan 4, 1921, in Ocoee, Tenn., and had lived in Sapulpa area all her life. Mrs. Hellard was retired American National Bank employee and a member of the Orchid Society. Survivors include son E. Wayne; daughter Kathy Brehm; sisters Juanita Morton, Nell Hickey and Wanda Goodman; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Lisa Hellard.
