George C. Hinkle, 69, of Claire, Mich, a Perry County native died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (July 3) at Claire Osteopathic Hospital where he had been a patient a short time. He was born Jan. 23, 1899, in Perry County, a son of Shooley and Emma More Hinkle. For several years he worked in coal mines in this area, moving in 1944 to Michigan where he was employed as a boilermaker. He was a member of Iliff Methodist Church at McLuney. Surviving are his widow, the former Clara Marie Savage; a son Warren of Claire, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Burley of Vermillion; two brothers, Pearl Hinkle of Rose Farm and Elmer Hinkle of Crooksville Route 2; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Beckett of New Lexington Route 2 and Mrs. Maggie Smith of Lancaster and five grandchildren. The body was returned to Crooksville Chapel of Cannon and Cannon Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. today.
