Dorothye Knight, 94, of Amarillo died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with the Rev. Jeff Raines, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Knight was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Archer County, was raised there and was a graduate of Archer City High School. She moved to Amarillo in 1930, and married James Andrew Knight in 1940 in Amarillo. He passed away in 2005. She assisted her husband in his accounting and tax service business for more than 25 years. She then resumed her role of being a homemaker and mother. She lived her life for her Lord and her family. She had been a member of First Baptist Church since 1939, where she played the piano for the youth for many years. She started making beaded bracelets in 1994 to send on mission trips. She made more than 75,000 bracelets and they have helped spread the Gospel all over the world. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress and china painter. She was preceded in death by a son, Dan Knight, in 1994; and a brother, Jack Kilcrease. Survivors include a daughter, Ella Jane Tracy and husband Lynn of Amarillo; a son, J. Stanley Knight and wife Elizabeth of Dallas; a grandson, Andrew Knight and wife Cynthia of Mesquite; a granddaughter, Beth Houston and husband Richard of Houston; and four great-grandchildren, Samuel, Claire, Grace and Daniel The family suggests memorials be to Gideons International, P.O. Box 2304, Amarillo, TX 79105.
