James G. Forker, 84, of Frame Rest Home on Blue avenue died at 2:55
p.m. Sunday in Bethesda Hospital where he had been admitted
Saturday. He had been a resident at the rest home three years.
Prior to that he lived at 827 Princeton avenue. Mr. Forker was a
retired employe of Wheeling-Lake Erie Railroad. His wife, Inez
Forker, died Feb. 6, 1952. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Mary
Hutchinson and Mrs. Dorothy Clift, both of 827 Princeton avenue,
Mrs. Altha Huey of 837 Princeton avenue,
Mrs. Ollie Hazen and Miss Elanor Forker, both of 867 Princeton
avenue, and Mrs. Alma Mautz of West pike; four sons, James of Newark,
Perry of 1342 Coopermill road, Charles of Owens Hill and Bernard of
Euclid; a brother, William Forker of 1267 Euclid avenue; a sister,
Mrs. Sally Crozier of Dresden; and 24 grandchildren and 40
great-grandchildren. The body is at Hillis Funeral Home where
services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Roy Keyser
officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may
call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.

The Rev. E. Elwood Settle, 79, of Hixson, passed away in a local
hospital on Tuesday, April 12, 2005. He graduated from Rising Sun
High School, Rising Sun, Md., Mars Hill Junior College, Mars Hill,
N.C., Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City, Tenn., and received a
masters of theology degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological
Seminary. He pastored churches in Maryland, Alabama, Illinois as
well as King's Point Baptist and First Calvary Baptist in the
Chattanooga area. He was a member of Baptist State Mission boards
in Maryland and Illinois and was clerk of Hamilton County Baptist
association for 11 years. In retirement he served as a volunteer
chaplain at Memorial Hospital and conducted a weekly Bible study
at the Terrace Assisted Living Facility at Mountain Creek Road for
10 years. He was a member of Hixson First Baptist Church where he
taught the Victory Men's Sunday School Class. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Luther and Hessie Settle; a brother, Leroy;
and sister, Iva Wyatt, all of Colora, Md.; and a son, Daniel Alan.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha Joyce Longley Settle;
a daughter, Joy Lynn Meek and son-inlaw, John of Hixson; son, Tom
Settle and daughter-in-law, Kim of Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren,
Jaclyn Meek of Hixson, Courtney, Zac and Cara Settle of Birmingham;
a brother and sister-in-law, Vera of Colora, Md.; several nieces and
nephews. The funeral will be on Friday at 7 p.m. at Hixson First
Baptist Church, 5800 Grubb Road, Hixson, with the Revs. Lee Griggs,
Joel Wood, Terry Shannon and Dr. David Myers officiating. A private
burial service will be in Plowman Cemetery, Apison, Tenn., on
Saturday, April 16. Pallbearers will be nephews and honorary
pallbearers will be members of the Victory Sunday School Class and
pastors of the Hamilton County Baptist Association. The family
will receive friends from 5?7 p.m. on Friday at Hixson First Baptist
Church. Memorial gifts may be made to the mission program of First
Baptist Church of Hixson or to Carson-Newman College, Jefferson
City, Tenn. Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga

Iva Marie Cox was born November 24, 1911 in Garfield, Arkansas. She
was the daughter of Edward Monroe and Ada Mitchell. She was raised
attended school in the Garfield area. Her mother passed away when
Iva was young and she was raised by her step-mother. Iva was married
to Jesse Maurice "Morris" Cox in Britewater, Arkansas on February
26, 1928. The couple moved to Cleveland shortly after their marriage
and had one son, Harold. Iva worked as a cook in various restaurants
in the Cleveland area including, Katie's and Ward's. Morris preceded
her in death on August 8, 1986. In addition to her husband, Iva was
preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Hurley Mitchell,
Rudolph Warren and Bryant Mitchell; and a sister, Blanche Ponce. Iva
was a member of the First Baptist Church and continued to resided
in Cleveland until October 12, 2001 when for health reasons she was
admitted to the Drumright Nursing Home. She passed away on Tuesday,
July 29, 2003 at the Drumright Nursing Home at the age of ninety-one
years, eight months and five days. Iva is survived by her son and
his wife, Harold and Louise Cox of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two
granddaughters and their husbands, Stacy and Brad Weldon of
Cleveland, Oklahoma; Leigh Ann and John Smith of Broken Arrow,
Oklahoma; and three great-grandchildren, Cassie Gilbert of
Stillwater, Evan and Hannah Smith of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 31,
2003 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Burial will
follow at the Woodland Cemetery.
