Mrs. C. B. Coulson Dies At Malta Home
Mrs. C. B. Coulson, aged 77, died at her home in Malta at 11 o'clock Saturday evening, foullowing an illness of complications. Mrs. Coulson was well known in the vicinity in which she lived, having resided in Malta for a number of years. Surviving is a son, Frank Coulson, of Malta, and a daughter, Miss Annie Coulson, of the home. Funeral services will be conducted from the home at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Mr. Clifford, of the Malta M.E. church, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery at Malta.

H. Jerry Longley, Ph.D., passed from this earth on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005. He was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Tahoka, Texas. The love of his life was Physics. In 1948, he received a BS from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. In 1952, Jerry received a Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin. He proudly served his nation in the U.S. Navy, and always said that was when he became a man. Jerry further served his country with his work in theoretical physics at Los Alamos National Laboratories during the height of the Cold War. In 1970, Jerry moved to Santa Barbara, Calif., to help create MRC and continue his work in theoretical physics. In the early 1980s, Jerry retired to Farmington, with the high desert and mountains he loved. As an avid hobbyist, he was fascinated by golf, flying, camping, woodworking and hunting. He had a great admiration for machines and how they worked. He loved to tell stories about flying radio-controlled planes and piloting his Cessna 172. Storytelling was a great pastime of Jerry's. He delighted in telling edgy jokes and repeating punch lines. Jerry will be missed by his family and many friends. Jerry is survived by his first wife, Virginia Townsend of Austin, Texas; his second wife, Linda Hedgepeth of Santa Barbara; daughters, Elizabeth Longley Beckcom of Bastrop, Texas, and Bonnie Camille Longley of Austin; son, J.J. Longley of Santa Barbara; and daughters, Lyn Lee Longley and Lea Lin Longley, mother of his grandchild, Jack, all of Santa Barbara. Also surviving is his brother, Jack Longley of San Diego, Calif. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert J. Longley and Bonnie Carter Longley. Special mention needs to be made of his long-time friend, Clyde Alexander, who knew and tolerated Jerry better than anyone. Services for Jerry will be held at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Greenlawn Cemetery, with Veteran Honors being provided by VFW Post No. 2182 of Farmington.
