Albert J. (Yank) Savage, 68, of Crooksville Route 2, retired coal
miner and a veteran of World War 1, died at 9:30 o'clock Saturday
morning in Good Samaritan hospital where he had been a heart attack
patient for eight days. He was a native of the Crooksville vicinity
and is survived by his widow, the former Bridget L. Kinney; a
stepson, Edward Lanning of Crooksville Route 1; nine grandchildren;
two brothers, Marion Savage of near Crooksville and James M., of New
Lexington. He was a member of UMWA Local No. 1431. Friends will be
received at the Fred L. Canon funeral home in Crooksville after 6
o'clock Sunday night until services are held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday
afternoon in the Iliff Methodist church. Rev. Kenneth E. Roach will
officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

William Watts Called By Death
William H. Watts, 83, of Crooksville, died early Sunday at Good
Samaritan hospital following an illness of five weeks of a heart
ailment. He was retired. A native of Saltillo, he was the son of
Henry and Celia Collins Watts. He had spent a greater part of his
life in Crooksville. His wife, Mary, died a year ago. Surviving are
one son, Emmett W. of Columbus; six daughters, Mrs. George Rhinehart
of Crooksville with whom he made his home; Mrs. Hughie Grant of
Cleveland, Mrs. Kathryn Westerfield of Crooksville, Miss Edith Watts
of Zanesville; Mrs. Olive Blainey of Crooksville and Mrs. Douglas
Lloyd of Columbus; one half-brother, Ralph Watts of London; 12
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and a number of number
of nieces and nephews. The body was removed to the Cannon & Cannon
funeral home in Roseville and was taken Sunday evening to the home of
Mrs. Rhinehart, a daughter, at 727 Keystone street, Crooksville.
Services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the
Saltillo Methodist church with Rev. Lee Hall officiating. Burial
will be in Mt. Horeb cemetery.

Charles R. Blackwell, 78, Clarksville, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004,
at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday
at Sykes Funeral Home and Crematory with Brother Geoffrey Sikes
officiating. Burial will be in Middle Tennessee State Veterans
Cemetery, Nashville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and
Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the service at the funeral home. He
was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Clarksville, son of William R. and Anna
Idell Plummer Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell was in civil service at Fort
Campbell and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Madison
Street Church of Christ. He was a former member of both the
Montgomery County Election Commission and Tri-County Solid Waste
Board. Survivors include two daughters, Connie Hardin, Nashville,
Mary Dell Baggett, St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters, Jo Anne Oxford and
Lucy Locklear, both of Dalton, Ga.; and one grandchild. Pallbearers
will be David Lee, Austin Peay, Roger Maness, Frank Shepherd, Johnny
Oxford, Lloyd Bryson, Norman Blackwell and Dennis Locklear.

RYAN, Okla. - Gladys Marie Knowles was born on March 12, 1925, in
Jones County, TX, to Dee and Elma Hager. She was raised in Jones
County and as a teenager she moved to Clay County where she worked
as a waitress and met her husband, Arthur J. Knowles. They were
married on October 6, 1946. They made their home in Oscar, OK, where
they farmed until moving to Ryan with their three daughters where
they opened and operated the Dairy Lane for twenty-seven years.
Gladys was an active member of the Ryan Church of Christ. Gladys
devoted her time and love to raising her daughters. As her family
grew, Gladys dedicated her time to grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, traveling from activity to event as a
cheerleader and supporter. She was known as Granny by not only her
family but their friends as well. On January 8, 2008, Granny passed
away peacefully to join our Father in Heaven. Gladys was preceded
in death by her husband, J. after sixty years of marriage, her
daughter Sandy Long and son-in-law Danny Long, five brothers and two
sisters. She leaves behind one sister, Dorothy Powers of Amarillo,
TX; two daughters; Cindy Suitt of Iowa Park, TX, and Lonna and Mike
Smith of Duncan, OK; three grandchildren; Stacie and Terry Wright of
Ryan, OK, Carissa and Curt Partridge of Iowa Park, TX, and Daniel
and Sarah Long of Wichita Falls, TX; eight great-grandchildren;
Magen, Hunter and Macie Jo Wright, Justin, Chloe and Carter
Partridge, and Jack and Jentry Long. Services will be conducted
under the direction of Dudley Funeral home on Friday, Jan. 11th
at 2 p.m. at the Ryan Church of Christ. Viewing will be on
Thursday, Jan 10th from 10 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6:30
to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ryan Church of
Christ, Ryan Booster Club, or North Texas Rehab center in lieu of

Inez M. Dillinger, 97, of Peru, Iowa, died Thursday, September 13,
2007 at Winterset Care Center South in Winterset, Iowa. Funeral
services will be held 10:30 a.m. September 17, 2007, at Peru United
Methodist Church in Peru. Burial will be in the Peru Cemetery at
Peru. Inez was born on June 16, 1910, at Villlisca, Iowa to John
and Margret (Savage) Amerine. She was married on June 5, 1927 at
Clarinda, Iowa, to Verl William Dillinger. She grew up around
Villisca and after her marriage to Verl, moved to Clarinda. In 1932,
she and Verl moved to Peru. Inez had been a farm wife, raising a
family and helping Verl on the farm. She belonged to the Garden Club,
Royal Neighbors, Women's Social Circle Club, Women's Society and the
Peru United Methodist Church. She loved to quilt and do crafts. Inez
and Verl had been married for 80 years. Inez is survived by her
husband, Verl Dillinger of Peru; children, Bill (Annette) Dillinger
of Peru, Harold (Bulah) Dillinger of Peru, Donald (Carolyn) Dillinger
of Walford, Larry (Linda) Dillinger of Bella Vista, AK, Marilyn
(Wayne Cowden) Hull of Van Meter, and Richard (Lois) Dillinger of
Peru; twenty grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren and 68
great-great-grandchildren. Inez was preceded in death by her parents
John and Margret Amerine; son, Robert Verl Dillinger; brother,
Clarence Amerine; sister, Hazel Waage; grandchildren, Linda Thompson,
Kenny Dillinger, Dixie Lee Dillinger, Ronald Dale Dillinger, and
Dianne Nichols. Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. with
family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Collins Oak Park Chapel. Memorials given to the family will be directed to the Peru United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel and Funeral Services in Winterset.
