MRS. EMMA WATTS OF CROOKSVILLE DIES AT AGE 96
Crooksville - Mrs. Emma K. Watts, 96, of Crooksville died at 3 p.m. Monday (March 6) at her home after a long illness. She had lived in Crooksville 76 years. She was born in Paulding County, near Antwerp, Dec. 16, 1870, daughter of Josiah and Hester Oswalt Kemerer. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Hazel M. Watts of the home; five grandchildren, Gerald, Duane and Donald Watts, James Long and Mrs. Norma Walker. Her husband, William, died in 1951. Two sons, Gerald and Orval; three brothers and a sister are also deceased. Friends may call at Fred L. Cannon and Sons Funeral Home here after 7 p.m. today. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday. Chalmer Stotler will officiate with burial in Crooksville Cemetery.

Janet Lilly Knowles, 62, of Christiansburg, died Thursday, February 5, 2004, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Deaton Lilly. She was born in McCoy, Va. to Oakley A. and Mary Croy Lilly. Janet taught in the Montgomery County School System for many years where she touched many lives through her love for children. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Blacksburg. Survivors other than her parents are her husband, Sam Knowles; son, Steve Knowles and his wife, Amy and their children, Bailey and Kenna of Christiansburg; daughter, Susan Potts and her husband, Dave and their children, Leah and Lilly of Blacksburg; sister, June McCoy and her husband, Buddy of McCoy; brother, John Lilly and his wife, Anita of Christiansburg; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 8, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Father James Arsenault officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, Mrs. Betty Basham-Chairman, 200 Evans Street, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg.
