Notes:
Could this be the Charles A Longley that served C Co 24th Iowa Inf?
By 1860, he was no longer living with his father (he would have been
23yrs old). I've searched all
the 1860 Ohio census indexes and have not located Charles in any of
the Ohio LONGLEY households (the 1860 index is far from complete
though). I haven't been able to locate him in Iowa or Illinois
either. His brother Thomas' pension file states that one brother
(Charles) and three sisters (Martha, Frances, Minerva) all died of
consumption (Tuberculosis? or Pneumonia?) - but no dates are given.
