David Lee Langley (Oct. 10 2003) David Lee Langley of Powell died peacefully Friday Oct. 10. He was born June 15 1924 to Thomas Hampton Langley and Mabel Emma Browder Langley of Sweetwater. He was the oldest of five sons. At age 18 he joined the U.S. Navy in 1942. He was a World War II veteran having served as a Sea Bee in the Aleutian Islands. He retired after 40 years of service as an electrician for TVA. In the 1950s he worked on wiring the dams that TVA was building. After that he worked in electricial maintenance and was often called to work restoring power around the Knoxville area during thunderstorms and snowstorms. He loved to bowl and was an avid bowler at Starlite Lanes. He was a member of Bell's Campground United Methodist Church. He was 79. Preceded in death by: parents; and brother Tony. Survivors include: loving wife of 51 years-Jewell; Daughters and son-in-law-Sharon and Smokey Oats of Charlotte N.C.; and Donna Zukowski of Loudon; Son and daughter-in-law-Tony and Mitzi Langley of Decatur Ala.; Grandchildren-Jessica and Leah Oats Kyri Zukowski and Whitney Craig and Gabrielle Langley; Brothers and sister-in-law-Lloyd and Mildred Langley of Sweetwater; Kenneth and Charlsie of Athens; and Clyde and Lois Langley of Lookout Mtn.; Other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at Bell's Campground Methodist Church with the Revs. John Tiller and Dan Griffey officiating. Family and friends met Tuesday Oct. 14 at Bell's Campground Cemetery for graveside services. Full military honors were conducted by VFW Post #5156. Arrangements by Weaver Funeral Home.
