PAULINE M. "PETE" QUINN 63, of Auburn died yesterday in Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, Fla. She retired in 1978 from Cooper Industrial Products Corp. after 10 years. Surviving are a daughter, Jane Tackels of Garrett; sons, Jeff of Palmetto, Fla., and Dewey of Auburn; her mother, Elsie K. Freeman of Fort Wayne; sisters, Bernice Lewis and Easter Longley, both of Fort Wayne, and Genievie Pepple of Ashley; a brother, Winfield Freeman of Muncie; and eight grandchildren. Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday in Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo, where calling is 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett. Preferred memorials are gifts to the family.

The Baylor University community is mourning the loss of two former department chairs who recently died. Funeral services for James William Dixon Jr., former geology professor and chair of the geology department, were held Monday. Dixon died Wednesday. He was 91. Darden Powers, a physics professor and former chair of the physics department, died Thursday. He was 72.
