Herman A. Stanley, 81, a resident of Zanesville until two weeks
ago, died Tuesday afternoon in Cuyahoga Falls where he and his
wife had cone to make their home with a daughter. Mr. Stanley
was ill only a few days. He and Mrs. Stanley formerly lived on
Jefferson street. A native of Beverly, he was a son of Mr. and
Mrs. Amos Stanley. He had lived in Zanesville for 39 years and
retired in 1948 after working as a crossing watchman for the
Pennsylvania Railroad for 30 years. Mrs. Stanley was a member of
First Christian Church in Beverly and the Brotherhood of Railroad
Trainmen. Surviving are his widow, Bertha; a son, William D. of
Canton; the daughter. Mrs. Dorotha Roth of Cuyahoga Falls; eight
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The body is at the
Clifford Funeral Home in Cuyahoga Falls where services will be
held 3:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Chestnut Hills Cemetery
in Cuyahoga Falls.

John Savage Dies Sunday Evening at His Home on R. 2.
John D. Savage died at 6 p.m. yesterday at his home on Route 2 after
2 weeks' illness with complications. He was 72. He was born April
27, 1868 in Morgan county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Savage and
was married in 1893 to Rachel Peebles who survives. The couple moved
to Coshocton county in 1897. Mr. Savage was a coal miner. Besides
his wife he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Bert Snell, Birds Run Route 2;
three sons, William Otsego; Charles, Route 5, and Eugene of Route 2;
seven grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary McClintock and Mrs.
Callie Church, both of Zanesville. One son is deceased. Services
will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Franklin Methodist church,
of which Mr. Savage was a member. Rev. W. S. Longsworth will be in
charge and burial will be in South Lawn cemetery.

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Cecil H. Longley, 89, died Friday, April 9,
1999, in a Stephenville hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m.
Monday at Stephenville Funeral Home with Ralph Starling officiating.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Highland Cemetery of Iowa
Park. Mr. Longley was born Jan. 15, 1910, in Archer City, Texas.
He and Edith Forester were married May 18, 1929, in Seymour, Texas.
She died Aug. 17, 1987. He and Gladys Greene were married Oct. 9,
1987, in Wichita Falls. She died in January 1997. He moved from
Wichita Falls to Stephenville in 1995. He was a member of Johnsville
Church of Christ and was a retired carpenter. Survivors include
two sons, Mike of Stephenville and Eddy of Fort Worth; two daughters,
Bobbie Cleland of Austin and Jeane Blakeley of Austin; a sister,
Jackie Arnold; and seven grandchildren.
