Mrs. Myrtle A. Hittle, 59, of Dresden Route 2, died at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday (June 1) in Bethesda Hospital where she had been a patient since May 11. She had been seriously ill since Jan 4. Mrs. Hittle was born Aug. 6, 1906, in Muskingum Township, daughter of Rutherford H. and Effie Granger Spiker. Surviving are her husband, Ralph L. Hittle; two sons, Zane and Max Hittle, both of Dresden Route 2; four brothers, Fred, Raymond, and Warren Spiker, all of Dresden, and Hugh Spiker of Coshocton; and five grandchildren. A brother, Charles Spiker, preceded her in death. Mrs. Hittle was a member of Dresden Methodist Church. Its Women's Circle and Dresden Grange. The body is at Dresden Chapel of Baughman and Sons Funeral Home where friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Ralph H. Beatty, 74, of 2132 Hoge avenue, died at 2:19 p.m. Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospital where he had been admitted Monday after suffering a stroke at the home of his son Ralph H. Jr., of 2175 Hoge avenue. He was born at Gilbert, a son of Thomas and Clara Coyle Beatty and spent most of his life here. For 35 years he was an employe of the Roseville Pottery and had also been a safe and locksmith. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Surviving in addition to his son and three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Fairall of Hopewell Route 1, Mrs. Rowena Harmon of 1621 Norwood boulevard and Mrs. Fern Twyman of Maxahala road, seven grandchildren and 18 great-grand-children. His wife, Lola, died in April, 1927 and a grandson, Russell Fairall was killed in the fighting in France during World War II. Two brothers, Ray and Clarence and a sister Claudia also preceded him in death. The body is at the Forest Avenue Chapel of the Bolin-Bryan Funeral Home where friends may call after 5 p.m. today. The Rosary is to be recited at 8 tonight. Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Church and burial will follow in Mount Olives.

Amos K. Shelton of Mullin, Texas died Wednesday, October 28, 1998 at the Goldthwaite Senior Health Center in Goldthwaite. He was 91 years of age. Amos Shelton was born May 22, 1907 in Mills County, Texas, the son of Jessie and Kate (Wesson) Shelton. On March 3, 1929 he married Ellis Glee Perry in Mills County. He had lived in Mills County all of his life. He was a farmer and a carpenter. Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Alvin, and one brother, Gene. Survivors are four sons, Lynn Shelton of Democrat, and Richard Shelton, Dennie Shelton and Tommy Shelton all of Mullin; 13 grand children; 27 great grandchildren; one sister, Malta Hammond of Goldthwaite; and one brother Doc Shelton of Dallas. The funeral was conducted Saturday, October 31, 1998 at 2:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel in Goldthwaite with Rodney Thomas officiating. Pallbearers were Ricky Shelton, Billy Shelton, Troy Shelton, Tommy Shelton, Jeff Shelton, and C.R. Shelton.
