Member of Bucyrus Jury Dies of Stroke; Rites Monday
Bucyrus, Dec. 17 - En route to his home at 824 Maple street after having served all day Friday as a member of the jury in common pleas court, Edward Stauffer, 71, was taken ill and died of a stroke of apoplexy shortly after he had entered a confectionary store to rest. He was born in North Robinson, six miles east of this city, Nov. 15, 1861, but had been a resident of Bucyrus nearly all his life. He was employed for 12 years as a machinist at the Ohio Locomotive Crane Co. He was a son of John and Catherine Furhman. His marriage to Flora Lear took place in Zanesville June 1, 1884. Mrs Stauffer died about a year ago. Surviving are one son, Edward Jr., of Alexandria, O, one daughter, Mrs. Rachel Smith of Bucyrus; one brother, Frank Stauffer of Bucyrus; three sisters, Theresa and Elizabeth Stauffer of Bucyrus and Mrs. Harriet Squire of Carey, O., and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the home Monday at 2 p.m. Rev John D. Green, pastor of First Methodist church, will conduct the service and burual will be in Oakwood cemetery. Frank Muns, funeral director, is in charge.
