Logan - Horace M. Sinift, 53, formerly of New Lexington, died unexpectedly Thursday evening at his home in Logan. Mr. Sinift was born April 26, 1923 in Junction City and was formerly employed by the Peabody Coal Company. He was a member of the New Lexington Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, the former Fern Savage; three sons, Richard Grubb of Columbus, David of Somerset and Johnnie Rose of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Fredrick (Cynthia) Lanning of Nelsonville; five brothers, Gilbert and Ralph, both of New Straitsville, George of McCuneville, Roy of Logan and Donald of Toledo; four sisters, Mrs. Merle (Mary) Nixon of Old Town, Mrs. Earl (Laura) Pennell of Columbus and Mrs. Harland (Rebecca) Geil and Mrs. Russell (Almeda) Brown, both of Logan. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at New Lexington Baptist Church with burial in Friendship Cemetery in Perry County. Friends may call at the Leonard-Lyke Funeral Home in Logan after 7 p.m. today, Sunday afternoon and evening and at the church two hours pryor (sic) to services.

Gladys Barker Boggs, age 70, of Meraux, Louisiana, died Friday, June 7, 1996 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. Services were 11 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, Chalmette, Louisiana. Burial was in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. Born in Coleman, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Virga Knowles Barker and Ivy Barker. She was a graduate of Coleman High School, had lived in southern California for most of her life and in Meraux, Louisiana for the past two years. She worked for Sears, Roebuck and Company in Meraux. Survivors include a son, Michael Wisner of Violet; two daughters, Sandra Domz of San Ynez, California and Jan Wallis; a sister, Ruth Harrell of Roswell, New Mexico; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Barker and Billy Jack Barker.
