Mrs. Martha L Wood, 89, of 418 Fifth Ave, North, Texas City, died Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter in League City following an extended illness. Mrs. Wood was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the West End Church of God in Texas City. Survivors include four sons, Clarence J. Wood Jr. and William Wood, both of Shreveport, La., Dan Wood of League City and John Wood of Houston; a daughter, Mrs. James Lothrop of League City; four brothers, John T. Longley of Giddings, Robert Longley of California and Preston Longley and Bill Longley, both of Houston, and two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Seale of Giddings and Mrs. Annie Mae Grant of Edmond, Okla. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Emken-Linton Funeral Home chapel, Texas City. The Rev. James Buckner, pastor of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in League City will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park East Cemetery, League City.

Crooksville-- Lura F. Conaway, 96, of 1724 Hightower Drive, Columbus, formerly of Crooksville and Zanesville, died at 9:50 a.m. Monday, March 9, 1998, at Friendship Village, Dublin, after an extended illness. Born April 2, 1901, near Crooksville, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Crooksville, and a retired school teacher, having taught five years at McLuney, two years at Crooksville, and 38 years at Wilson Elementary School in Zanesville. Miss Conaway was a member of Starlight Chapter 239 O.E.S., Crooksville, Ohio and Muskingum County Retired Teachers Association, anda charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma of Zanesville. Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Irene Conaway of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and May Savage Conaway; and one brother, Gerald B. Conaway. No calling hours will be observed. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville, with Pastor Larry Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Iliff Cemetery.
