SUN CITY ---- Helen Evelyn Alther, 76, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at her home of cancer. Born April 16, 1924, in Los Angeles, she lived in Sun City for 13 years. She worked for Huntington Valley Baptist Church in Fountain Valley, as a secretary for 10 years. She was in the choir at First Baptist Church in Sun City. She enjoyed making dolls and traveling. Mrs. Alther was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Alther. She is survived by her daughters, Elaine Eiler and Sylvia Murphy, both of Springfield, Ore.; sons Allen Sheehan of Placentia and Joel Sheehan of Tustin; brother Clayton Durbin of Wichita, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and service at 10 a.m. March 6, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Inc. with the Rev. Robert G. Dalrymple officiating. Burial will be at 11:15 a.m. March 6, at Riverside National Cemetery. Miller-Jones Mortuary Inc. is handling arrangements.

He is not the Hamilton Longley in the pension index, Co L, 1 Wis H.A., widow Elcey, minor Alfred. Hamilton Longley married Elzy Osmon 6 Jul 1852 in Jefferson Co., Wisconsin.

he is not listed in the ancestry.com dbase of Wisconsin deaths 1820-1907 - but neither are his wives (incomplete dbase).
