Spec. Kenneth A. Melton, 30, West Plains, Mo, Company B, 3rd Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment, 39th Brigade Combat Team, Arkansas Army National Guard, Fordyce, Ark. His military vehicle was hit by a makeshift bomb and small-arms fire while traveling in a convoy near Sadr City in Baghdad.

Spec. Kenneth Alan "Kenny" Melton, 30, of Batesville, formerly of Thayer, Mo., was born Nov. 24, 1973, in West Plains, Mo., and died April 25, 2004, in Baghdad, Iraq. He was a member of the United States Army National Guard, CO B, 2/153 INF. He died while serving his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Melton; three children - Vincent, Marie and Theresa Miele, all of Batesville; his father, David Melton, and stepmother, Addie, of Thayer, Mo.; his mother, Kathy Crawford of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers - Mike Mabes of Clarksville, Tenn., and Keith Crawford of Fort Worth; two sisters - La Theresa Crawford of Arizona, and Krystal Crawford of Fort Worth; his maternal grandparents - Lee and Irene White of Wirth; and numerous other relatives and friends. The funeral was May 2 in Clary Chapel with Bob Dustman officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Jeff Cemetery. Arrangements were by Clary Funeral Home of Mammoth Spring.

CLOVIS, N.M. - Wade Darrel Jobe, 54, died Monday, March 8, 2004. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Bethal Assembly of God with the Rev. Lemuel Perry officiating. Burial will be in Melrose Cemetery by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Jobe was born April 2, 1949, in Tucumcari. He married Alice Longley on April 4, 1970, in Tucumcari. Survivors include his wife; a son, William Darrel Jobe of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two daughters, Kimberly Mitchell of Winslow, Ariz., and Melanie Ballard of Edgewood; four brothers, Alford Jobe of Adrian, Texas, Roy Jobe of Trinidad, Colo., Dwight Jobe of Collene, Texas, and William Lee Jobe of Stockton, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

He married Alice Longley on April 4, 1970, in Tucumcari. He worked for Allan Richey Trucking as a truck driver and attended Bethal Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Troy and Dwayne Jobe. Survivors include his wife; a son, William Darrel Jobe (and wife, Alana) of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two daughters, Kimberly Mitchell (Jim) of Winslow, Ariz., and Melanie Ballard (Clifford) of Edgewood; four brothers, Alford Jobe of Adrian, Texas, Roy Jobe of Trinidad, Colo., Dwight Jobe of Collene, Texas, and William Lee Jobe of Stockton, Calif.; and nine grandchildren, Megan Mitchell, Nathan Mitchell, Michelle Mitchell, Weston Jobe, Taylor Jobe, Justin Jobe, Alicia Ballard, Allyna Ballard and Ariel Ballard. The Rev. Lemuel Perry will officiate the services. Burial will be at Melrose Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William Jobe, Jim Mitchell, Cliff Ballard, Clint Silverthorn, Shawn Nelson and Doyle Hodges. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
