JAMES INMAN PAYNE
FORT WORTH - James Inman Payne, 68, died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at
his residence in Fort Worth. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St.
Vincent Episcopal Church with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Father
John Twyman will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 1, at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Mr. Payne was born
July 17, 1930, in Rising Star and spent his early years in
Breckenridge. Following the tradition set by his father and elder
brother, he played football for and graduated from SMU in 1953. Jim
began his career in education as a teacher and coach at Ector High
School in Odessa. He later served as athletic director and head
football coach at Ector and Corsicana. After earning a master's
degree in educational administration from East Texas State University,
Jim served as high school principal in Sanderson and Ozona as well
as superintendent in Ozona before retiring in 1993. Since moving to
Fort Worth in 1994, he worked part-time for H&R Block. After 48 years
of marriage and 41 years of service in education, Jim died suddenly
last Friday in his home of a heart attack. He will be greatly missed
by his students, friends and family. He was preceded in death by his
father, Frank C. Payne Sr. Survivors include his wife, LaVaughn Payne
of Fort Worth; two sons, Jim Payne Jr. of Odessa and Larry Payne of
Alpine; a daughter, Virginia Murrah of Bedford; his mother, Lucille
Payne of Breckenridge; three brothers, Frank Payne Jr. of Dallas,
Gerald Payne of Hereford and Ronnie Payne of Breckenridge; and 10
wonderful grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Heart
Association and Retinitis Foundation of the Southwest (Dallas).

TREMONTON-OAK CITY~ Lenox R Finlinson, age 87, died January 2, 2000
in Bountiful. Born October 17, 1912 at Oak City to George Edward
and Mary Caroline Roper Finlinson. Married Arline Rose January 9,
1944 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Later divorced. Graduated from Delta
High School. Attended Ricks College and BYU. Served in US Army Air
Corps during World War II as Master Sergeant over the Scottsbluff,
Nebraska base. After war, lived in Provo and started a general store
for 5 years. Then went into the car business for his life's
profession. Numerous trips as a top car salesperson. Avid deer
hunter and gun collector. Also collected coins. Known for dancing
ability. Loved hearing and telling stories. Active member and High
Priest in LDS Church. Survived by sons and daughters, Rose Ann (Lyn)
Clayton, Payson; Kitt (Elayne) Finlinson, Kaysville; Ralph (Cheri)
Finlinson, Springville; Jenny (Randy) Huskinson, Rexburg, Idaho; 16
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucy Day, Brigham
City; sisters-in-law, Afton Finlinson, Fillmore; Elva Finlinson, Oak
City. Funeral services Thursday January 6, 2000, 1 p.m., Oak City
Church. Friends call Church 11 a.m.-12:40 p.m. Burial Oak City
Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Florence Young, 44, of Crooksville,
who died Saturday evening at her home following a cerebral
hemorhage, will be held Tuesday afternnon at 3 o'clock from the
Cannon and Cannon funeral home, Roseville, with Rev. C. W. Wilson,
of Pittsburg officiating. The body will be cremated in Columbus.
Mrs. Young was a member of the Associated Bible ??? and Local Union
?? N.R. of O.P. Surviving are her husband, George Young, two
daughters, Mrs, Frances Barker of Roseville and Mrs. Edwin Lanry,
of Crooksville; two granddaghters, Shirley Ann and Sandra Lee Barker, a
sister, Mrs. Wayne Cates, of Roseville, her mother, Mrs. Clara Brown,
and a brother, Karl Brown of Crooksville. The body has been removed
to the residence from the funeral home.
