Knowles; three stepchildren; two sisters; six brothers; and nine grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in C.L. Jennings Funeral Home, Crewe. Burial will be in Crewe.....

Bernie McNabb sent me the following transcription from Greenlawn Cemetery:
Longley, Emily J.
Died May 16, 1861, aged 3y, 4m; daughter of S. H. & M. ? Longley.
Buried in Row 7 - Old Section.

Samuel and Harriet are the only LONGLEY family in Washington Co that she would fit, however, if she died 3 years old in 1861, she should have been listed with the family in 1860 (and she wasn't). A couple of explanations are:
1) she was missed. Orange R Longley was also born abt 1858, so either they are twins or close in age (10-11months?)
a more plausible explanation is:
2) The stone might actually read 1867. That puts her born in 1864, in between Charles William Longley and Kate R Longley.

I don't know what condition the headstone is in today.

The 1900 census for mother Harriet Longley indicates Harriet had had nine children, five of whom were still living in 1900. Eight of the children are clearly recorded in various census reports, so The above theory of Emily still fits right in.
