W.J. Longley was born in Tennessee in 1836; and died in Dalton, GA.,
in June 1909. In the beginning of the war he enlisted in the 39th
Georgia Infantry, and was a brave, true soldier to the cause. He was
wounded in the battle of Missionary Ridge by a ball striking him in
the forehead and plowing its way across his head. He was disabled by
this wound from active service for months; but on his recovery he
returned to the army, and served till the surrender. He was a member

Wilson Adam, 94, a retired well driller, passed away June 27,
1962 in the Irvin Nursing Home at Columbia City. A former resident
of Wolf Lake, he lived with his daughter, Mrs. Kendall Secrist at
Collins since 1955. He was a grandson of Sam Wilson, reputed to
be the original "Uncle Sam", although there has been considerable
controversy with a New York community on that claim. Also surviving
is another daughter, Mrs. Glen Hire, R. 2, Albion; 7 grandchildren;
10 great-grandchildren; 3 stepsons; 2 stepdaughters; a brother and
a sister. Services were held at a Columbia City funeral home with
