Harley David Sullivan, 84, of Greeley and formerly of Sterling,
died Aug. 22, 2003, in Greeley. Visitation will be Aug. 26 from
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stoddard Funeral Home in Greeley. Funeral
services will be 10 a.m. Aug. 27 at the First Assembly of God in
Greeley. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr.
Sullivan was born Nov. 14, 1918, in Ferry, Okla., to David and
Alice (Mitchell) Sullivan. He grew up in Rifle, and graduated
from Rifle Union High School in 1937. He later served in the
Army, was discharged in November 1941 and was drafted back into
service one year later. His second discharge came in September
1945. On Dec. 2, 1945, he married Virtiadean Knox in Brush.
The couple farmed and operated a dairy in Brush. In 1964 the couple
sold the farm and moved to Sterling, where he worked for the highway
department. He bought a farm near Atwood in 1968. Mr. Sullivan r
etired from the highway department in 1984 and moved to Greeley. He
served as a deacon at Assembly of God churches in Brush and Sterling,
and was a member of the First Assembly of God in Greeley. Mr.
Sullivan is survived by wife Virtiadean, Greeley; daughters Jan
Bartram, Greeley, and Kathy Mackey, Sterling; sons Don Sullivan,
Greeley, and John Sullivan, Gill; sisters Florence Falk, Greeley,
Irene Long, Bartlesville, Okla., Zella Rae Warehime and Delores
Hatcher, both of Evans; brothers Earl Sullivan, Greeley, and Art
Sullivan, Monte Vista; eight grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Mildred
McGraw and Jenavee Duncan. Memorials may be made to the First
Assembly of God in Greeley, or to Alzheimer's research, care of
Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th St., Greeley, Colo. 80634.

the Indiana Council for Mental Health and long a crusader for public
health reforms in the state, died yesterday, He had been in failing
health since 1944. Funeral services will be held tomorrow.
