LOWELL RESIDENT IS 90 YEARS OLD
Lowell - George Savage celebrated his 90th birthday Sunday. Dinner was served to members of the family. Guests included A.L Savage and Mrs. Dudley Stowe, Marietta; Dana C Savage, Newark, William Savage, Lowell, Dudley Stowe, Marietta; Mrs. D. C. Savage, Newark; Miss Mabel Jordan, Mrs. George Savage, Richard and Dana Savage, Newark, and Sarah and Faye Savage, Marietta.

Lowell - Funeral services were held today at the G.A. Spies funeral home for George W. Savage, 94, who died at his home in upper lowell, Saturday afternoon. Mr. Savage had been employed for many years in repairing and building dams and locks. He was born in Jun 16, 1850 at Watertown. When a child his parents moved to Lowell. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Savage. He married Sarah Clay Oct. 5, 1871. She died in April 1941. Three sons survive, Arza Savage, Marietta; William Savage of the home, and Dana Savage, Newark; one daughter, Mrs. Alma Stowe, Marietta; two brothers, Joseph Savage, Winter Haven, Fla., and Henry Savage, Akron, and nine grandchildren. Rev. Otto W. Brehaus officiated. Burial was in Greenlawn cemetery, Lowell.

In 1860, he's enumerated as 11 year old George Griggs in the Savage household.... however, he is not enumerated with Harriet Griggs in 1850 (he is probably a SAVAGE - not a GRIGGS). - need to find the 1850 entry for Jacob Savage's family....
