William "Bill" Overby, age 84, died peacefully in his home on March 7, 2006 and went to his eternal rest following a Scripture reading from Psalm 116 and a family prayer led by his pastor. Bill was born in Marlow, OK on April 19, 1921 to Ernest and Dora Overby and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior as a child, and walked closely with his Lord. He was ordained a deacon at Baptist Temple on November 8, 1981. He married his sweetheart Nita in Wichita Falls, TX on June 13, 1946 and faithfully loved her with all of his heart for 60 years. Bill faithfully served his country in the Marine Corps and Oklahoma's 45th Infantry Division in WWII and in the Korean War. Bill retired from Southwestern Bell after 37 years of service. Bill and Nita loved attending the Faith Sunday school class and fellowshipping with their friends and family. Bill had many joys in his life, especially his children Mike and Arie, Jan and Stan, Tim and Gena, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Bill was an excellent father and role model and has left a godly legacy to follow in his footsteps. He trained all of his children to love the Lord, and it brought him much joy to know they accepted Jesus as their Savior and are faithfully serving Him to this day. Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters, many dear friends, and is now reunited with them in glory. A celebration of his life will be held at Bill Merritt Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 9th, 2006, at 2 p.m.
