Mother of Six Dies in Perry County
Corning, 0., July 8 - Mrs. Elsie Fern Estep, 40, mother of six children, died early today at the Perry county hospital near New Lexington following an operation. Ill for only a short time and sent to the hospital Monday, Mrs. Estep was born in Perry county. She was a resident of nearby Rendville. Surviving are her husband, Lincoln, and the following children, Francis, Crooksville, Thelma, Lincoln Jr., Bobbie, Shirley Ann and Franklin, all at home. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Hampton, Mrs. Estep was a member of Holiness church, Rendville, Funeral services will be held at the Holiness church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial will be made in the Crooksville cemetery by the F. G. Blower Funeral Directors of Corning.

Christa Nerlich Knowles, 72, of Petersburg, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2005. She is survived by her husband, Marvin L. Knowles; two sons and their wives, Robert L. and Kathleen F. of Springfield, Va., Richard R. and Mary Catherine of Raliegh, N.C.; one granddaughter and three grandsons. Christa is also survived by her sister, Renate Croy of Gresham, Oregon; a brother and sister-in-law, Guenther and Helga Nerlich of Butzbach, Germany. She was born in Schlesien, Germany. Christa married her husband in 1956 while he was serving in the U.S. Army in Germany. The Reverend Brian Clingenpeel will conduct a memorial service on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Villa Heights Baptist Church, 4080 Challenger Avenue (off Route 460) Roanoke, Virginia 24012. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Christa's name to Crater Community Hospice, 840 W. Roslyn Road, Suite E., Colonial Heights, Va. 23834.
