James M. Burley, 65, of Crooksville, died at 7:50 a.m. Friday (July
29) at his home after a long illness. Born in Crooksville July 28, 1901,
he was a son of Thomas and Myrtle Savage Burley. He was a member of
Crooksville EUB Church and Eagles Lodge. A retired coal miner, he was
last employed by Hull Pottery in Crooksville. Surviving are his widow,
the former Leora Luckett; a daughter, Mrs. Harriet Nystrom of Seattle,
Wash.; a son, James Burley of Crooksville; a sister, Mrs. Maude Howerth
of Pomona, Calif.; a brother, Thomas Burley of 1007 Ohio street, Zanesville,
five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death
by both parents, three sisters, and one daughter. Services will be
held at 1 p.m. Monday at Fred L. Cannon and Sons Funeral Home in
Crooksville with Rev. Talmadge C. Gregory officiating. Burial will be
in Crooksville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after
7 p.m. today.

Funeral for Mildred V. Nay, 78, was to be 2 p.m. today at Price &
Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Randy Caddell
officiating. Burial is planned for Tuesday at Spring Creek Cemetery
in Weatherford, Texas. Mrs. Nay died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at
Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City. She was born Aug. 6,
1925, at Covington, Okla., to William H. and Mary M. Henshaw Hunter.
A Garden City resident since 2000, moving from Weatherford, she had
worked as a school cook and a department store retail sales clerk.
She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Garden City.
On Dec. 17, 1947, she married Benjamin Owen Nay in Hutchinson
County, Texas. He died April 16, 2000, in Weatherford. She is
survived by three sons, Mike, Robert and Jim Nay, all of
Weatherford; a daughter, Judy Smith of Garden City; a sister,
Lois Daniels of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren. Memorials are suggested to St. Catherine
Hospice or First Southern Baptist Church, both in care of the
funeral home, 620 N. Main St.
