LOBELVILLE, TN: Dillard Wade Ashby, 75, died Tuesday, June 20, at the home of his daughter, Cynthia Carter in Murfreesboro. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 24, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home with Rev. Donald E. Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the New Crossroads Cemetery. Mr. Ashby was born March 3, 1931, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Clarence and Ruby Pinkston Ashby. He was retired from the Department of Correction with the State of Tennessee for 25 years and was known as Hound Dog at Turney Center. He was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Ashby; one son, Steve Ashby; and two brothers, Donald Ashby and Harold Ashby. Survivors include: three daughters, Cynthia Carter of Murfreesboro, Kimberly Carter of Dickson and Valerie Johnson of Ogden, Illinois; two sons, Tim Ashby of Lobelville and Matt Ashby of Decaturville; one sister, Juanita Gist of Iuka, Mississippi; and one brother, J.C. Ashby of Winchester; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
