CULP, DESIRAE ELAINE "Desi", in Roseville Sunday, December 16, 2001
at the age of 17. Beloved daughter of Westley and Barbara Culp.
Cherished sister of Jessica (20), Joshua (15), and Krista (13).
Beloved granddaughter of Bob and LaRue Culp. Adored niece of Tim
and Maria Fahey, Roy and Theresa Roberts, Steve and Sandie Geisler,
Steve and Janna Lloyd, Rob and Kathryn Culp, Andrew and Shawna Culp,
and Francene Spurgeon. Also survived by 21 cousins, most of whom
lived next door. Preceded in death by grandparents John and Billie
Klein. Born Thursday, January 26, 1984 in Sacramento. She was a life
long native of Elverta, growing up with her beloved family as her
neighbors. She was a senior at Center High School where she was
greatly loved by her teachers, coaches and students. She excelled
at volleyball and softball, earning "All League" honors in both
sports. Desirae was light, laughter, and love to all those who
knew her. Though our hearts are breaking, we take great comfort
in knowing that "Families Are Forever". All are invited to a
visitation 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday December 20, 2001 and a
celebration of Desi's life at 1:00pm, Friday, December 21, 2001 at
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 8583 Watt Ave.

Center to honor Culp
Center High School soon will retire two numbers to honor a fallen
star player. Desirae Culp's "00" volleyball and "1" softball
jerseys will be retired in February in memory of an athlete who was an
all-Capital Valley Conference player for the Cougars in both sports.
Culp, a 17-year-old senior at Center, was killed in a car crash Dec.
15 at Baseline and Walerga roads while returning home from Christmas
shopping. Originally scheduled for the night of the crash was an
all-star game featuring seniors from each of the league's six teams.
The Elverta resident planned to play in the game, but, because of
scheduling difficulties, the event was canceled. "It didn't seem
real," said Center coach Sandy Tissue when she learned of Culp's
death. "It was a heartbreaker." Tissue said Culp also served as her
teacher's aide this past semester.

Rolland H. Dew, 58, of Newark, an equipment operator for Hoosier
Engineering Co., died at 9:15 a.m. Friday (April 11 at Bethesda
Hospital, where he had been a patient three weeks. Born March
13, 1911 in Burr Oak, he was a son of Riley and Hattie Shepard
Dew. He was a member of Masonic Lodge, F&AM of Bishopville near
Burr Oak and Scottish Rite at Bloomington, Ill. Surviving are his
widow, Jeanne; a step-daughter, Mrs. Betty Beyer of Canton; a
sister, Mrs. Ruie Williams of Malta Route 3; three brothers, Cecil
and Herbert, both of Glouster Route 1 and Harold of Glouster Route
2; three grandchildren. Friends may call at Fisher Funeral Home
in McConnelsville 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Masonic rites
will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held at 1 p.m.
Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Dew Cemetery at Burr
Oak.
