"PIONEER RESIDENT STEARNS COUNTY. Mrs. John W. (sic) Davis, Died at Monticello This Morning-Interment at St. Cloud. Husband Died 16 years ago. Mrs. John W. (sic) Davis died at Monticello at 9 o'clock this morning at the age of 85 years. The deceased was one of the pioneer residents of Stearns county, she and her husband being early settlers of the Sauk River valley, a few miles west of the city, where they aided in the development of that part of the county, and won the respect of all their neighbors by their courage, helpfulness and public spirit. She was a most estimable woman, and her memory will be honored by all pioneers. Her husband died some 16 years ago, and for the past few years she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Worthing of Monticello. Besides this daughter, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. James Longley of Rockville, and by two sons, J.F. Davis and Freeman E. Davis of this city. She has two sisters living in Litchfield. The remains will be brought to St. Cloud and placed beside those of her husband, but the arrangements for the funeral have not yet been completed." (Who were sisters in Litchfield?
