Mamie Knowles Turley, age 85, of Garland, and formerly of Coleman, died Monday, February 11, 2002 in a Garland hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m. Wednesday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow in Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Mrs. Turley was born June 30, 1916 in Coleman, Texas and was the daughter of the late Jim Croft and Ella Loflin Croft. She grew up and attended school in Coleman. She lived in Odessa for several years and had resided in Garland the past 35 years. In 1935 she married Riley Knowles and he died in 1972; she married Walter Turley in 1982 and he preceded her in death in 1997. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors include one son, Raymond Knowles of Garland; step-children, Betty Hunter of Coleman and Robert Knowles of Garland; one sister, Nettie McAlister of Coleman; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Pinckley. Pallbearers were Roy Knowles, Grady Boyd, Randy Thomas, Gene Converce, Durl Croft and Burl Croft.
