Ira E. Watts Sr, 65, of 3608 S Shields, died Monday in St. Anthony
hospital following a short illness. Services will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday at Capitol Hill Funeral Home with burial in Resthaven
Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Ira E. jr., 1108 Hickory Ln.,
Midwest City; two daughters, Mrs Patricia Anderson, Fort Smith, Ark.,
and Mrs. Sue Young, Harrah; three brothers, Albert, Norman, Henry,
Rosemead, Calif., and Elmer, Inglewood, Calif., and five sisters,
Mrs. Georgia Harris, Mrs. Mary Petty; and Mrs Edith King, all of
Oklahoma City; Mrs. Alma Harris, Chander, and Mrs. Ruth Bohannon,
Maud.

James Andrew Knight, 94, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 22, 2005.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church Chapel
with Jeff Raines, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in
Memorial Park Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr.
Knight of Amarillo died June 22. Mr. Knight was born in Dallas, the
son of William Buford Knight and Ella Minta Thurmond Knight. He was
the great-grandson of Obadiah Knight, an early settler of Dallas. At
the age of 8, his family moved to Newark, where he grew up. He
graduated from Denton High School, then Draughons Business College
before coming to Amarillo in 1930. He worked for Phillips Petroleum
Co. until he entered the Navy to serve in the Pacific Theater in
World War II. He served on the destroyer escort Ulvert M. Moore No.
442, under the command of Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. James married
Dorothye Kilcrease in 1940. When he came home to Amarillo after the
war, he studied accounting and had his own practice until retiring
in 1981. He was saved at the age of 13 and served his Lord as long
as he was physically able. He was a 50-year member of First Baptist
Church in Amarillo, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school
teacher and song leader. He loved his Lord, his family and his
country. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel; a
brother, William B. Knight; and a sister, Alice Knight. Survivors
include his wife of 65 years; a daughter, Ella Jane Tracy and husband,
Lynn, of Amarillo; a son, J. Stanley Knight and wife, Elizabeth, of
Dallas; a sister, Mary Tyrrell of Houston; a grandson, Andrew R.
Knight and wife, Cynthia, of Mesquite; a granddaughter, Beth Houston
and husband, Richard, of Houston; and three great-grandchildren. The
family suggests memorials be to City Church, 205 Polk St., Amarillo,
TX 79101.
