CHARLES E. SHOMBER

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Charles E. Shomber, 60, of Glenn Hills Drive, formerly of the Osage area, died April 11 (2000). Graveside services were held April 14 at the Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, with Chaplain Brian Mead officiating. Burial was with full military honors. Mr. Charles E. Shomber, 60, of Glenn Hills Drive, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Olive Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Brian Mead officiating. Burial will be with full military honors. Mr. Shomber, a native of Richmond, Kan., had retired after 20 years from Criminal Investigation Division of the Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He had also retired after 14 years as a teacher from Fort Gordon Branch of Georgia Military College. He was a member of First Christian Church, Garnett, Kan. Survivors include his wife, Shirley J. Shomber; a son, Clifford Keith Shomber, Appling; a daughter, Penny S. Carpenter, Augusta; a brother, Larry L. Moody, Las Vegas; four sisters, Louise Hinrichsen, Barbara Miller, Linda Riker and Dorothy Turner, all of Osage, Iowa; and four grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to The Scholarship Fund for the Fort Gordon Branch of Georgia Military College, c/o Mr. Wright, 115 Davis Road, Martinez, GA 30907. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road.
