Crooksville-- Gerald B. Conaway, 79, of 4691 Ceramic Road NE, Crooksville, died at 10:40 a.m. Thursday, July 1, at Bethesda Hospital following a one month illness. Born Jan. 12, 1903, at McLuney the son of the late Thomas and May Savage Conaway, he was a retired pottery worker and a 20 year employee of Harrison Township. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Crooksville, a 50 year member of Peerless Lodge 591 of Free and Accepted Masons and a 50 year member of the Modern Woodmen. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Abby Marie Sutherland; two daughters, Mrs. Larry M. (Rose Marie) Taylor and Mary Lou Hines, both of Crooksville; two sons, Thomas B. Conaway of Roseville and Paul D. Conaway of Crooksville; one sister, Lura Conaway, of Zanesville; one brother, Robert M. Conaway of Columbus; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; five step grandchildren and one step great-granddaughter. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. today at the Goebel Funeral Home in Crooksville, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. George Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Iliff Cemetery, Peerless Lodge 591 held Masonic Services Friday at the funeral home.

David R. Knowles, 61, of Hurricane died August 13, 2002, after a short illness. Born June 11, 1941 in Richmond, Virginia, he was the younger son of Tom Knowles and Mary H. Knowles. He was a Vietnam veteran and a member of Masonic Lodge. He was a truck driver with 30 years, spending the last 11 years with Dart Transit Co. He was the husband of 40 years of the late Mary Knowles. Surviving: daughter, Debbie Handley and husband Randy, of Hurricane; sons, Robert Knowles and wife, Lori, of Wichita, Kansas and David Knowles and wife, Tammie, of Columbia, South Carolina; brothers, Rufus Knowles and Thomas Knowles; 21 grandchildren. Service was held Friday, August 16, 2002, at Valley View Memorial Park Mausoleum, Hurricane, with Shelby McNeely officiating. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, was in charge of arrangements.
