Mrs. Julia Ingram, 90, Texas Native, Passes
Whitewright, Texas, Feb 22. - Funeral services were held at the
Crossroads Presbyterian Chruch in the Desert community south of
Whitewright, for Mrs. Julia Ann Fletcher Ingram, 90, who was born
in the Orangeville community southeast of here. She died Thursday
night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hubert Lewis, Kingston,
near Greenville. Burial was in the Crossroads Cemetery. Mrs. Ingram
was born at Orangeville. She was married to Richard Ingram in 1872.
He died in 1897. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lewis, and a
son, Press Ingram of the Desert community; five grandchildren,
twenty-four great grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Tilden Dudley
Mason and Emma Shepherd Mason. Surviving are her husband, Stafford
Akers of Rocky Mount; her sister and brother-in-law, Maude and
Daniel Overfelt of Rocky Mount; her brother, Ray S. Mason of
Waidsboro; two sisters-in-law, Louise Hancock of Sea Grove, N.C.,
Mabel Barbour of Boones Mill; two brothers-in-law, Woodrow Akers of
Florida, Carroll Akers of Salem; special friend, Kay Sutherland of
Wirtz. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Flora
Funeral Chapel with Rev. Eddie Peters officiating. Interment will
follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. Arrangements by Flora Funeral
Service, S. Main Street, Rocky Mount.

many years after her husband died. She ran a child care nursery in
her home and was licensed by the state. She tended to many children
from birth until they were much older. After she closed the day
care, she moved to Ryan Oklahoma to be near her sister, Juanita
who owned a nursing home.
