Robert W. Forker, 77, Bradenton, died Nov. 7, 2000.
He was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Zanesville, Ohio, and came to Manatee County in 1992 from there. He was a district agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. and was the founder and past president of The Forker Co,. an employee benefits company, both in Zanesville. He was a member of the Bradenton Rotary Club and Bradenton Country Club and was a board member of The First National Bank of Zanesville. He was a graduate of Columbia University in New York City. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and received the Distinguished Flying Cross with an Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Zanesville. Survivors include his wife, Nancy T.; four sons, Robert W. Jr. of Frazeysburg, Ohio, Douglas Y. of Zanesville, R. Sean Lapp of Chicago and Dr. Eric C. Lapp of Baltimore; a sister, Geraldine Andrews of Bend, Ore.; and four grandchildren. There will be no local visitation or service. Committal services will be private at Frazeysburg Cemetery in Ohio. Brown and Sons Funeral Home, 26th Street Chapel, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1179, Bradenton, FL 34206, or Bradenton Hospice House, c/o Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
