Mrs. Bettie Sigman Janney of 115 Third Ave, died in a Staunton
hospital yesteray morning after a decline in health for the past
several years. She had been a patient in the hospital for 12 years.
Mrs. Janney, wife of the late Robert Malin Janney, was 89 years of
age, and a native of Franklin County, where she was born March 8,
1872, the daughter fo the late Tom Sigmon and Celia Ann Knowles
Sigmon. Prior to her hospitalization she made her home with her
son, the late Houston Clyde Janney; on the Luna Lake Road. She was
a member of a Methodist church in Franklin County. Shw was the last
member of her immediate family, and her only survivors are her four
grandchildren; Mrs. Rachel Inman of the Martinsville Road, Mrs.
Evelyn Chatman of Leasville, N.C., Mrs. Annette Lester of Leaksville,
N.C., and Clyde Lee Janney of Danville. Funeral services will be
conducted from the chapel of the Swicegood Funeral Home tomorrow
morning at 11:00 o'clock by the Rev. Roy L. Hall, Interment will
follow in the Schoolfield Cemetery. The body is resting at the
funeral home, and the family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William
Moore, 115 Third Ave.

Oak Ridger, The (TN) - April 4, 2008
Belinda Ann McAlister, 56, of Delano and formerly of Oak Ridge, died
Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at her home. She was born Sept. 20, 1951,
in Athens and graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1969. Ms.
McAlister was a retired welding inspector. She was a former member of
Trinity United Methodist Church and attended Carlock Methodist Church
in Etowah. She enjoyed gardening, antiquing and genealogy. Ms.
McAlister was preceded in death by her father, Robert John McAlister
Sr. in 2001. She is survived by her mother, Mary Simmons McAlister of
Etowah; brothers, Bob McAlister and wife, Lori, and Mike McAlister,
all of Oak Ridge; uncles, Pete McAlister and wife, Betty, of Oak Ridge
and Carl McAlister and wife, Robbie, of Chattanooga; numerous cousins
and many friends of Oak Ridge, Etowah and Texas. Funeral services are
Friday, April 4, 2008, at 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev.
Amy Cook officiating. Graveside services are Saturday at noon at Oak
Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that any memorials be in the form
of contributions to the American Heart Association. The family will
receive friends on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Weatherford
